The Kosher Shop

Help center

Everything you need to sell on The Kosher Shop: products, photos, shipping, orders and payouts.

Getting started

How to start: 5 steps to a live shop
  1. Shop details: in Settings → Store add your shop name, logo, banner, phone and address.
  2. Payout method: in Settings → Payment add your bank account. This is where your sales money goes.
  3. Shipping: in Settings → Shipping set how you ship and what it costs (or local pickup).
  4. Products: in Products → Add new product add your first products, or connect your stock in Stock sync.
  5. Approval: we review your shop and products. Once approved, customers can see your shop.

The "profile complete" box at the top shows what is still missing.

It says “your account is not yet enabled for selling”. What does it mean?

Every new seller gets a short review before selling. This keeps our customers' trust. Meanwhile you can finish your shop details and prepare products.

The review usually takes up to 2 business days. If it takes longer, email info@thekoshershop.eu.

What is in the dashboard?
  • Dashboard: sales, orders and balance at a glance.
  • Products: all your products – add and edit.
  • Stock sync: automatic stock and price updates from your own system.
  • Orders: new orders, status and shipping.
  • Coupons: discounts for your customers.
  • Reports: sales, products and stock by period.
  • Withdraw: your balance and payout requests.
  • Announcements: news from us.
  • Settings: store, payment, shipping, returns and SEO.
Which markets can I sell in?

thekoshershop.eu – USA and worldwide, prices in US dollars.
thekoshershop.co.il – customers in Israel, prices in shekels.
Europe – opening soon.

You chose your markets when you signed up. Want to add one? Email us and we will open your shop there too.

Adding products

How do I add a product?
  1. Go to Products and click Add new product.
  2. Write a clear product name (what it is, brand, size). Example: "Sweet raisin challah, 500 g".
  3. Add the price. A sale price is optional.
  4. Choose the right category.
  5. Upload a main photo and more photos (see "Photos").
  6. Write a short description (2–3 lines) and a full description.
  7. Under Inventory fill in SKU and quantity.
  8. Under Shipping fill in weight and size.
  9. Click Save.

A new product is sent to us for approval before it appears on the site.

How long does product approval take?

Usually up to 2 business days. We check that the name, photos, price and kashrut are clear. If something is missing, we tell you what to fix.

Editing an approved product may send it for review again.

What should the description include?
  • What the product is and who it is for.
  • Size, weight or pack quantity.
  • Ingredients and allergens (food).
  • Kashrut: the certifying agency, dairy/meat/pareve, and Passover if relevant.
  • Shelf life (food).
  • Use, care or storage instructions.

Keep it short and clear. Do not copy descriptions from other sites.

A product with options (size, color, flavor)

Choose product type Variable product. Add an attribute (e.g. "Size") with its values (S, M, L), then create variations. Each variation can have its own price, stock, SKU and photo.

Prices, sales and wholesale prices
  • Sale price: fill in "Sale price" and optional dates.
  • Wholesale price: in the product you can set a wholesale price and minimum quantity. Only wholesale customers we approved see it.
  • Request a quote: customers can ask for a quote on larger quantities. Requests arrive in your dashboard.
  • Prices are shown in US dollars.
What can’t I sell?

Food that is not kosher or has no clear kashrut, fake or copyright-infringing items, dangerous or illegal items, and items that do not fit the spirit of the site. The full list is in the seller terms.

How do I hide a product without deleting it?

Two ways: set stock to 0 (sold-out products are hidden from the shop), or set the status to draft. All the details stay for next time.

Photos

Which photo size and format?
  • Shape: square (1:1), so all products look even.
  • Recommended size: 1200×1200 px. Minimum 800×800 so zoom works.
  • Format: JPG or WebP. PNG only for transparent backgrounds.
  • File size: up to 2 MB per photo. Heavy photos slow the site.
  • How many: one main photo plus 3–6 more.
How to take a good product photo (even with a phone)
  • Daylight near a window, no flash.
  • White or light background for the main photo.
  • Product in the center, filling most of the frame.
  • A photo of the kosher symbol on the pack.
  • More photos: side, close-up, in use, size next to a hand.
What not to put in photos
  • Text, prices or watermarks on the main photo.
  • Logos of other websites.
  • Photos you have no right to use. Your own photos, or supplier photos with permission, are fine.
Shop logo and banner

We tested these sizes on the shop page on desktop, iPad and phone.

Banner

  • Size: 1500×600 px (5:2 ratio). JPG, up to 1 MB.
  • What shows: phones and iPads show the whole image. Desktop cuts about 90 px from the top and 90 px from the bottom.
  • Where to put text: in the middle of the height, between rows 100 and 500.
  • Bottom-left corner: your logo sits there (about a third of the width, 100 px from the bottom). Keep it free of text.
  • Big text: letters at least 60 px tall. On a phone the banner is only about 330 px wide.

Logo

  • Size: square, 500×500 px (at least 400×400).
  • Shown as a circle 120 px wide, so the corners are cut. Keep your logo in the center with some margin, on a plain background.

Upload them in Settings → Store. After saving, open your shop page on your phone and check it looks right.

Stock & connecting your system

How does stock update?

Each product has a stock quantity. It goes down by itself with every sale. At 0 the product is marked sold out and hidden from the shop. When 8 units or fewer are left, you get an email alert.

Connect stock from my system (POS, Shopify, WooCommerce)

In Stock sync you connect stock and prices, updated every 15 minutes. You can connect:

  • Google Sheet or CSV file – works with any system that can export a file.
  • Shopify or WooCommerce – direct connection.
  • API – your system sends us updates with a personal key.

Products are matched by SKU or barcode, so keep them the same on both sides.

What should the file look like?

Headers in the first row, one product per row:

sku, stock, price
BR-500, 24, 18.90

You can use "barcode" instead of SKU. In Stock sync there is a button to download a ready file with all your products.

What is “safety stock”, and why is a price change waiting for approval?

Safety stock: units you keep for your physical shop. Set 2, and if your system has 10, the site shows 8.

Big price change: if a price changes by more than 30%, we hold it until you approve. This protects you from typos.

Shipping & pickup

How do I set up shipping?
  1. Go to Settings → Shipping.
  2. Pick a zone (e.g. "United States & Canada", "Europe", "Israel").
  3. Add a method: Flat rate, Free shipping (optionally above an amount), or Local pickup.
  4. Save.

The shipping fee the customer pays goes to you in full. There is no commission on it.

Preparation time, delivery days and pickup

In Settings → Delivery time set how many days you need to prepare an order, which days and hours you deliver, and whether you offer store pickup. The customer picks a date and time at checkout.

Close orders before Shabbat and holidays, and update ahead of the chagim.

How do I tell the customer the order is on its way?

On the order page add shipment tracking: carrier, tracking number and status (processing, ready for pickup, on the way, delivered). The customer gets an email update.

International shipping and customs

If you ship abroad, check what the destination country allows (food rules differ), and write clearly in the product what can ship where. Customs and import duties are usually paid by the customer – say so in your shop policy.

Orders

What do I do when an order arrives?
  1. You get an email, and the order appears in Orders.
  2. Status Processing means the customer has paid. Prepare it.
  3. Ship or prepare for pickup, and add shipment tracking.
  4. When the customer has it, change the status to Completed.

Only completed orders count toward the balance you can withdraw.

What does each status mean?
  • Pending payment: the customer has not finished paying. Don't ship.
  • Processing: paid. Prepare and ship.
  • On hold: waiting for a check or missing detail.
  • Completed: delivered.
  • Cancelled / Refunded: don't ship, or the money was returned.
I’m missing an item for an order. What now?

Contact the customer right away (details are in the order) and offer a replacement or cancellation. If you cancel, email us and we refund the customer. To avoid this, keep stock up to date or connect it in Stock sync.

Payments, commission & payouts

How does the customer pay, and how do I get paid?

Customers pay on the site by card through a secure payment (Stripe), via UDITA s.r.o., the company that runs the site. Once an order is completed, your amount (after commission) goes into your balance. In Withdraw you request a transfer to your bank account (transfer fee $5).

What is the commission?

The commission is 10% of the product price + $1 per order. No sign-up fee and no monthly fee. Shipping fees go to you in full.

Example: an order with $100 in products and $15 shipping. The commission is $10 + $1, and you receive $104.

Launch rate: open your shop by December 31, 2026 and pay 7% instead of 10% for your first 3 months. The $1 per order still applies. After 3 months the rate goes back to 10% + $1 automatically, and we email you.

Transfer fee: each withdrawal to your bank account costs $5. Withdraw once a month rather than after every order.

On a refund to the customer, the commission and the $1 are not returned.

You can always see your commission, and when your launch rate ends, in your dashboard under Money & invoices.

How do I withdraw money?
  1. Make sure your bank account is in Settings → Payment.
  2. Go to Withdraw and click "Request withdraw".
  3. The minimum is $50.

We approve and send a bank transfer. Bank details must be in the name of the shop owner or business.

Invoices and sales tax

You are the seller, so you give the customer a receipt or invoice as your local law requires, and you handle your own sales tax. For tax questions, check with your accountant.

Returns & cancellations

What is the returns policy?

In Settings → RMA (returns & warranty) you set your own returns and warranty policy. It is shown to customers on the product page. It must follow the law and the site terms.

Full details are in our returns policy. This is not legal advice.

A customer asked for a return. What do I do?
  1. The request arrives in your dashboard and by email.
  2. Check the reason and reply to the customer within 2 business days.
  3. Approve, or explain why not.
  4. Once the item is back with you (or no return is needed), approve the refund.

Handle damaged or wrong items quickly. It builds trust.

Kashrut & certificates

How do I show kashrut?
  • In the name or description write the certifying agency (e.g. OU, OK, KLBD, Star-K).
  • Note dairy, meat or pareve, and kosher for Passover if relevant.
  • Add a clear photo of the kosher symbol on the pack.
Do I need a kosher certificate?

For food you make yourself (bakery, catering, deli), you need a valid kosher certificate. We may ask for it before approving products. When it is renewed, send us the new one.

For packaged products, the kosher symbol on the pack is enough.

Your shop & promotion

How to make your shop look great
  • A clear logo and banner.
  • A short "about": who you are and what makes you special.
  • At least 5 products with good photos.
  • Phone, address and social links.
Coupons and discounts

In Coupons create a discount code (percent or amount) for your products. Set dates, a minimum order and a usage limit. Share the code on social media or with your customers.

How do I bring customers to my shop?
  • Share your shop link on WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook.
  • In Settings → Store SEO write a title and description for Google.
  • Holiday sales: Rosh Hashanah, Chanukah, Purim and Pesach.
  • Tell us about a special new product – we may feature it in a campaign.
Reports – what to check

In Reports you see sales by day, week and month, your best sellers and your stock. Check weekly what works, and restock before you run out.

Business directory

I don’t ship. Can I still be listed?

Yes. In the business directory any local kosher business (bakery, butcher, caterer, service provider) can get its own page for free: phone, WhatsApp, address, hours and what you offer. Customers find you by area and category.

To join: add your business.

Can I have both a shop and a directory page?

Yes. The shop is for products that are shipped or picked up as orders; the directory is your local business page. In the directory form you can add a link to your shop.

Support & security

How do I get help?

Email info@thekoshershop.eu with your shop name and a short description. A screenshot helps a lot. We reply on business days, usually within a day.

Keeping your account safe
  • We will never ask for your password or a verification code – not by phone, not by email.
  • Enter API keys (yours, Shopify or WooCommerce) only in the dashboard. Never send them to anyone.
  • Think someone got into your account? Change your password and email us right away.
